MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2011 Winners | Complete List

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2011 is being staged today at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The said awards give recognition to the top music videos and performances to singers and bands last year.

MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2011

Just before the show started, MTV announced through its official website that Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry and Adele already received awards. According to MTV, Lady Gaga was the winner of the newest award category, "Best Video with a Message" for "Born this Way" while Beyonce took home "Best Choreography in a Video" award for "Run The World."

Katy Perry, this year's most nominated artist, also received an award for "E.T." which is the "Best Special Effects in a Video."

Adele is so far the biggest winner since she already was awarded three (3) professional awards which include the "Best Editing in a Video", "Best Art Direction in a Video" and "Best Editing in a Video," all for her smash hit "Rolling in the Deep."

The 2011 Teen Choice Awards was successfully held at the Universal City's Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, California on August 7, 2011.

Taylor Swift wins big at the Teen Choice Awards 2011

Hosted by Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco, the teen awards show gave the most number of recognition to singing sensation Taylor Swift who took home a total of 6 awards including the "Ultimate Choice Award." Following closely was Disney star Selena Gomez who bagged 5 surfboard-shaped trophies while her boyfriend Justin Bieber walked away with 4.

Coco Martin, recognized as 'Actor of the Decade'; nominated as 'Best Actor'

Coco Martin, lead star of ABS-CBN's "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin", has been recognized by the Gawad Urian Awards as one of the "Actors of the Decade."

Veteran actresses Cherry Pie Picache and Gina Pareño were also named as recipients of the recognition which will be awarded to them tonight (May 17, 2011) during the awarding ceremony of the 34th Gawad Urian - 2011

Coco Martin is also nominated for the "Best Actor" in this year's Urian for his portrayal in the indie film "Noy".

The Gawad Urian Awards is an annual film awards given by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (the Filipino Film Critics).

For this year, 12 major awards will be handed out which include “Pinakamahusay na Pelikula” (Best Picture), “Pinakamahusay na Direksyon (Best Direction), “Pinakamahusay na Dulang Pampelikula” (Best Screenplay and “Pinakamahusay na Pagganap ng Isang Aktor/Aktress” (Best Actor/Best Actress).

2011 MTV Movie Awards Nominees | 'Harry Potter', 'Twilight' battle in 5 nominations

Both blockbuster movies and movie adaptations of fantasy book series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1″ and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” received several nominations in the recently released "2011 MTV Movie Awards List of Nominees".


The two films are also nominated together in the following categories: Best Movie, Best Female Performance (Emma Watson VS Kristen Stewart), Best Male Performance (Danielle Radcliffe VS Robert Pattison), Best Fight (Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint vs Death Eaters VS Robert Pattinson vs. Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel), Best Kiss (Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe VS Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner). 3 awards for GMA-7, 2 for ABS-CBN in 54th New York Festivals

On its 54th year, the annual New York Festivals International Television Programming and Promotion Awards recently handed out awards to the "The World's Best Work" in news, documentary, information and entertainment programming as well as in music videos, infomercials, promotion spots, openings and ID's.

There were twelve (12) entries that the Philippines submitted to the Festival, this year. Out of those 12, five received awards from the body during the awarding ceremony recently held in Las Vegas. The 5 entries (3 from GMA-7 and 2 from ABS-CBN) are as follows:

Angelica Panganiban beats Ai Ai, Toni, Tuesday, and Eugene; brings home Best Comedy Actress award

Kapamilya actress Angelica Panganiban personally received her Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical/Comedy trophy from the 8th Golden Screen Awards of Entertainment Press Society (Enpress). The awarding ceremony was held last night, April 2, at Teatrino Greenhills, San Juan.

Among the nominees in the category were no less than the "Comedy Queen" Ai-Ai delas Alas (Ang Tanging Ina), Toni Gonzaga (My Amnesia Girl), Tuesday Vargas at Eugene Domingo (Here Comes The Bride).

Angelica won the award for her lead role in Star Cinema's comedy flick, "Here Come The Bride".

The Orpheum Theater: Award Central

About a month ago, I attended the Second Annual Los Angeles Fashion Awards, our counterpart to New York's CFDA. Its director, Jennifer Uner, asked me and former GenArt director, Meghan Griffith to present the "Inspiration Award" to GenArt and its LA director, Jennifer Egan. You may remember that I co-hosted the "GenArt Fresh Faces In Fashion" show at Santa Monica Airport's Barker Hanger not too long ago, along with the gorgeous actress, Garcelle Beauvais.Here is a great video of the event, which was produced by www.OhRio.com

The LA Fashion Awards event was held at the historic Orpheum Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. Jennifer asked me if she could come over to my studio and get ready at my place since I am Downtown, 5 minutes away from the event. I guess, I was still in the shower when she arrived, with her make-up artist(like a true Diva), so they set up camp outside on the steps and proceeded to , as Tim Gunn would say, "make it work". Fifteen minutes later, I walk outside and find them in full-on make-up process on the steps of my Loft! To the delight of the lovely infamous LA bums walking their shopping carts as well as a film-crew shooting nearby, Jennifer then became a true Diva and had her make-up done right then and there!

The Award show had presentations for various awards, including "Best Designer" which was won by Rozae Nichols, "Marketing Excellence",won by Collection Bebe and "Fashion Retailer" , which Decades Two took the honors. There were corresponding fashion shows showcasing all the nominated designers, which showed the wide range of talent that the West Coast has to offer. When it came time to do the speech and present the award to Jennifer Egan and GenArt, I was happy to see that there were Teleprompters and a nice glass of wine waiting for me backstage, which calmed my nerves, just a bit. Everything went fine, even if I ad libbed some of it. A "Fashionista crowd" can be a tough, jaded one, so I felt I did OK, as long as I walked away without any boos and jeers from the audience.

The Orpeum Theater was the site for yet another award show I attended, the "LA Ovation Awards". My best friend, Louie Anchondo ,works with the "Actors' Fund" , which is a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment . He asked me to be his date to the "Ovation Awards", the Los Angeles answer to the NY Tony Awards. It was a night of THEATER(pronounced with the British accent) hosted by Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser). He was charming , funny and held the three hour show together. Although I am not exactly a fan of the Theater, I do enjoy a good musical now and then, especially if the costumes are fun. I was shocked to find out how many "Theater" fans "Project Runway" has, when I walked into the lobby of the Orpheum and several heavy weights of the art kept stopping me, gushing about how much they loved the show. I thought I could "slip in" un-noticed in this atmosphere of high-brow art. Not! I got to meet several actors and singers of the stage including Sam Harris (of "Star Search" fame) and the beautiful and Tony-nominated actress Valarie Pettiford. I almost fainted when I saw actress and Diva-extraordinaire, Carole Cook. She was the grandmother from the 1980s cult-classic,"Sixteen Candles". The one who felt Molly Ringwald's perky boobies as well as served breakfast with a cigarette dangling from the forefinger while opening a box of doughnuts. I cannot express enough my absolute love for her. There are many times when I want to channel her in moments of distress and trauma. This was definitely the highlight of my night!

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's 35th Anniversary Gala

Tonight, Saturday, November 18th, I have been asked to present the Corporate Vision Award to Bravo's Andy Cohen at the LA Gay & Lesbian's Center's 35th Annual Gala and Auction. I will be joined by fellow "Project Runway" Designers, Andrae Gonzalo, Raymundo Baltazar and Jeffrey Sebelia, as well as the entire cast of Bravo's "Workout". This is an exciting and fun event.

As a bonus , the Center will be auctioning off a disposable camera, in which I took photos from recent events I attended, plus a one-of-a-kind original illustration I did of the winning "My Scene Barbie" outfit I designed for the Project Runway" Challenge on Season 2. Hope to see you there!
