'Dolphin Tale,' 'Dream House,' 'What's Your Number' hit theaters this week

Three Hollywood movies are opening in various cinemas in the country this week. They include Anna Farris and Chris Evans' romantic comedy "What's Your Number," family drama "Dolphin Tale" and Jim Sheridan's thriller "Dream House." Check out their trailers and plots below:

'Beauty and the Beast,' 'Finding Nemo' undergo 3D revival, to be re-released in theaters

After the success of the 3D release of "Lion King" in theaters last month, Disney has announced that the 1991 animated classic "Beauty and the Beast" and 2003 Pixar movie "Finding Nemo" will go on 3D revival as well and will be re-released in cinemas in 2012.

Reports also say that "The Little Mermaid" and "Monsters Inc." will also be revived in 3D in 2013.

The 3D version of "The Lion King," originally from 1994, roared to the top of the Box office in US and Canada in September. It raked in $79 million after three weeks in movie houses.

Above is just one of the many scenes that were shot using IMAX's large-format cameras. It was taken at the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world which can be found Dubai.

"Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" is set for release in conventional theaters on December 21, 2011. But for select IMAX cinemas, the film will screen earlier - on December 16.

Directed by Brad Bird, "Mission Impossible 4" also stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Josh Holloway, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Lea Seydoux and Anil Kapoor.

'No Other Woman' gross now P100M after 5 days

"No Other Woman's" total gross is now estimated to have reached the Php100 Million mark since it opened in theaters 5 days ago, according to reports.

Anne Curtis who just got back from Bangkok, Thailand also tweeted about her movie's box office performance just a while ago.

"I'm back! Hello Manila! what awesome news to come back to! 100M na in 5 days ang No Other Woman. Thank you so much guys! Overwhelming!!" Anne said.

She added, "I'm actually super speechless, so I'll keep it simple and sincerely say thank you to all of you!!!"

It was earlier reported that "No Other Woman" raked in P15 Million during its first day in Philippine cinemas.

Topbilled by Anne Curtis, Derek Ramsay, and Cristine Reyes, "No Other Woman" is directed by Ruel S. Bayani and was rated “A” by the Cinema Evaluation Board and "R-13" by the MTRCB.

"No Other Woman," the newest film from Star Cinema and Viva films, which is being topbilled by Anne Curtis, Derek Ramsay, and Cristine Reyes, debuted very strong at the box office.

According to entertainment news reporter Gretchen Fullido, the movie raked in an estimated gross of P15 Million during its opening day which was yesterday, September 28, 2011.

"#NoOtherWoman raked in P15 million pesos on opening day. Congrats Star Cinema! :)" Fullido tweeted Thursday evening after her TV Patrol report.

Meanwhile, the following tweets from Anne Curtis seem to support the claim.

'Johnny English Reborn' still tops PH box office figures

Mr. Bean's (Rowan Atkinson) fans are still rushing to cinemas to watch their idol in the new comedy action film "Johnny English Reborn," making the sequel still undefeated in the box office race 2 weeks in a row.

According to the recent figures released by Box Office Mojo, "Johnny English Reborn" garnered P25M more ticket sales on its second week (September 21-25). It has grossed approximately P68.4M to date.

Meanwhile, also on its second week, GMA Film's "My Neighbor's Wife" raked P7.07M more for the said time period and now has an estimated total sales of P26M.

'No Other Woman' premiere night, UAAP Finals Game 2, other events cancelled today due to 'Pedring'

As Typhoon Pedring continues to pound Metro Manila, a number of events have been cancelled today including the premiere night of the Star Cinema movie "No Other Woman" and the much anticipated Game 2 of the UAAP 74 Finals which has been reset to October 1st (tickets for today's game will still be acknowledged on Oct. 1). The following were also postponed:

-- National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) in Regions 1-5, CAR and NCR will be postponed from September 28, 2011 to September 30, 2011. New examination date will be announced soon.

-- "Love Justified" concert presscon featuring Aiza Seguerra and Cookie Chua has been postponed today due to Typhoon Pedring. New schedule is yet to be announced.

-- MMK launching tonight at EDSA Shangrila in Mandaluyong has been moved to October 13th.

"Breaking Dawn" is the fourth and last installment in the hit Twilight Saga series. It is going to be a 2-part film. Reports say that Part 1 will be released on November 18, 2011 and Part 2 on November 16, 2012.

The first poster of the highly anticipated fourth installment of the "Mission Impossible" series, the "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" has been released by Paramount Pictures, today. Check it out below:

Directed by Brad Bird (his first live action film), "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" stars Tom Cruise, who reprises his role of IMF Agent Ethan Hunt.

In the film, the IMF is shut down when it was blamed in Kremlin bombing, causing Ethan Hunt and his new team to go rogue to clear their organization's name.

The movie's cast also include Ving Rhames, Jeremy Renne, Josh Holloway, Simon Pegg, Tom Wilkinson, Paula Patton, Anil Kapoor, Michael Nyqvist, Léa Seydoux, Vladimir Mashkov, and Samuli Edelmann.

Another 'Moneyball' teaser featuring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill debuts

Two weeks before the movie's theater release, "Moneyball" creators has released via Yahoo! another teaser clip titled, "Rincon." Check it out below:

"Moneyball" tells the true story of Billy Beane, general manager of the Oakland Athletics. It based on the book of the same name written by Michael Lewis in 2003.

The film's cast include Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Chris Pratt, Casey Bond, Stephen Bishop, Royce Clayton, David Hutchison, Kathryn Morris and Robin Wright.

"Moneyball" hits US theaters on September 23, 2011. It will be released in the Philippines on Novemberr 23.

'Cars 2' wins Philippine box office race on first week

The Pixar sequel "Cars 2" zooms its way to the top of the highest grossing films in the Philippines for Week 34 (August 24-28, 2011), according to Box Office Mojo.

"Cars 2" garnered total estimated ticket sales of 37.79 million pesos during its first 5 days, leading other Hollywood films "Final Destination 5" (Debut week, P25.5M), "Crazy, Stupid, Love." (2nd week, P5.3M), and "Conan the Barbarian" (2nd week, P4.6M).

Meanwhile, Star Cinema's "Way Back Home" which was on its second week scooped P4.3M more, with a total 2-week gross now of P27.8M.

This was also the week when GMA Films' "Tween Academy: Class of 2012" premiered. Unfortunately, it was not on the list. Did Box Office Mojo miss to include it? Because if it did not, we could assume that the film earned less than 64,327 pesos which is the lowest gross listed.

'Bangkok Horror Stories,' 'Fright Night,' 'Thelma,' etc. open in Philippine cinemas today!

It's Wednesday and that only means one thing for Noypi movie fans - it's the premier day of most films in Philippine cinemas!


Here are the movies which opened in theaters today:




Bangkok Horror Stories (Thai) - An abused young girl (Laila Boonyasak) is murdered. She becomes a vengeful ghost, wreaking havoc in an apartment complex. A young man (Mario Maurer) with the ability to see ghosts moves into the building, and soon begins a strange romance with the angry spirit.




Fright Night -  A teenager (Anton Yelchin) suspects that his new neighbor is a vampire (Colin Farrel) responsible for a string of brutal murders. When nobody believes him, he enlists the help of a Las Vegas magician who claims to be a vampire hunter.




Thelma - A poor young girl (Maja Salvador) discovers a gift for running. Her new talents give her a chance at a better life, but the challenges she faces every day threaten to keep her down.




Trust - A suburban family is torn apart when fourteen-year-old Annie (Liana Liberato) meets her first boyfriend online. After months of communicating via online chat and phone, Annie discovers her friend (Chris Henry Coffey) is not who he originally claimed to be. Shocked into disbelief, her parents (Clive Owen and Catherine Keener) are shattered by their daughter's actions and struggle to support her as she comes to terms with what has happened to her once innocent life.




 X-deal - A freelance photographer and his lover move into a new apartment. They soon get caught up in a game of infidelity with their dangerous new neighbors. (Starring Paloma, John Hall and Jamila Obispo)

Mario Maurer fans in the Philippines have something to look forward to before their idol's forthcoming visit in the country. Given the new title "Bangkok Ghost Stories," Mario Maurer's movie "Rahtree Reborn" ("Buppha Rahtree 3.1") is set to be shown in Philippine theaters this September 7, 2011.

Mario Maurer's "Bangkok Ghost Stories" is part of a horror movie series in Thailand, "Buppha Rahtree." It tells the story of a boy who fell in love with a dead girl. Check out its trailer below:

Way Back Home tops box office in its 1st week with P18M

"Way Back Home" raked a whooping 18 million pesos during its first week, topping the box office, Box Office Mojo reported.



According to Box Office Mojo, The Star Cinema movie knocked "The Smurfs" (#2) from the top spot and led other films which debuted the same week, "Conan the Barbarian"(#3) and "Crazy Stupid Love" (#4). "Rise of the Planets of Apes" and "Cowboys & Aliens" took the 5th and 6th spot respectively while Eugene Domingo-starrer "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank" which raised P2.15M more in its third week came in at #7 - "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank" now has a total estimated earnings of P30.26M.



"Captain America" (#8), the last "Harry Potter" movie(#9), and "Transformers 3" (#10) also made it to the Top 10 list.
