Nick Verreos Co-Hosts Latina Style Business Series Macy's Fashion Show !!

Viva Las Latinas!

Latino Style: Nick Verreos Co-Hosts Latina Style Business series Macy's Fashion Show

This past Spring and Fall, I traveled across the US to numerous cities such as Nashville, Houston, Chicago, Sacramento, San Francisco, Miami and even San Juan Puerto Rico. I hosted TONS of great Macy's Fashion Director/Fashion Challenge Events where I let audience members be Macy's Fashion Directors and have a chance to win Macy's Gift Cards as well as showcasing fun fashion shows, giving tips on all the top trends of the seasons.

Macy's Love: Nick Verreos, Latina Style Business Series Expo, Hyatt Century Plaza Hotel

Last week, Macy's asked me to co-host the "Macy's Look Successful, Be Successful Fashion Show" at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City/Los Angeles as part of the Latina Style Business Series Business and Expo. My co-Host was the bella Yarel Ramos, host of the Mun2 Network Regional Mexican Music Show, Reventón.

Nick Verreos and Yarel Ramos, Hosts of Look Successful, Be Successful Macy's-sponsored, Fashion Show Latina Style Business Series

The Latina Style Business Series is a nationally recognized seminar and expo which provides resources and business training for Latina professionals and entrepreneurs and Macy's was the Title Sponsor. The LA expo was an all-day event which culminated with the Look Successful, Be Successful Fashion Show.

Prior to the show, Keynote Speaker Nely Galán (above)--former president of Telemundo, star of "The Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump" and creator/executive producer of "The Swan"--enraptured the audience with an empowering speech. Now, we had to follow the marvelous Galan with our STYLE-empowering fashion show!

Runway Latina: Nick Verreos, "Look Successful, Be Successful" Macy's Fashion Show Latina Style Business Series

I've never met a runway I didn't like...so you know that after Yarel introduced me on stage, I had to begin the fashion show with my "Nick V. Catwalk", followed by me giving "props" to my Latina Mom (she was JLo before JLo with her bouffant hairdo and Pucci-esque one-shoulder caftans back in Caracas Venezuela!) and Grandmother and how they were such powerful figures in my life.

Backstage, our lovely Latina models--in all shapes and sizes of course--were getting ready in their Macy's outfits. We even had two "celeb" models with Wendy Carillo, Power 106 Radio Host as wells as Raquel "Raq-C" Cordova, on-air radio personality for Latino 86.3 FM.

The show was split into five different sections, among them were "Opportunity Knocks":

Which was all about Dressing-For-An-Interview; ensembles that are stylish yet not overbearing. These were styles that will land you the job. There was also "First In Command":

Which featured five looks a la "Devil Wears Prada", as in what the Boss Should look like; strong powerful business style statements for the empowered Latina entrepreneur...and "Seal The Deal":

This section featured four looks to wear after you've landed the job and are ready to go out with the boss--or your friends--to celebrate. In between all the sections, I gave advice on what the "Must-Haves" of the season are (Booties, Heels, colored coats, metallics, sweater wraps and Equestrian knee-high boots).

I also showed the audience of Latinas how to transform their outfits from "Not Hot" to "Hot" as well as show what shapes work best for different body types to put forth your best professional image--in and out of the office. I think everyone enjoyed the "Look Successful, Be Successful" Macy's Fashion Show and hopefully they got a lot of useful information.

Latina Style Red Carpet: Nick Verreos poses with Macy's Executives, as well as Latina Style Business Series Entrepreneur of The Year, Alycia D. Enciso (in blue jacket)

From all the praise I got after the show from all my Latina "hermanas", I think they did! Thank you to Macy's, and especially: Thank you to all the Power Divas at the Latina Style Business Series that showed how FIERCE and Fabulosa you can be, inside and out: Get the empowering knowledge..and get the Fashion Knowledge...

Nick Verreos Is Coming To Minneapolis Minnesota for Macy's, Saturday Oct. 9Th!!

Well this Friday, I get on another airplane and head to Minneapolis, Minnesota! I'm hosting my Macy's Fashion Challenge Event Saturday October 9Th at the Macy's Southdale Center, in the suburb of Edina about 11 miles from Minneapolis I've been told. Details on what I'll be doing are above on the "Invite".

I'm very excited because this will be my first time in the state of Minnesota. The clients have warned me to bring a coat because it might be cold--I did my research and the "weatherman" says that on Saturday, it will be a high of 69 and a low of 54. Not too cold. Very San Francisco-esque. I'll take that!

I was going to bring my FABULOUS Marc Jacobs Collection parka with fur hood but...I have a feeling A) That might be to heavy for 60 Degree weather and B) The stares from the Minneapolis Airport Security might get me a "Full Body Scan"...

See you in Minneapolis!

Nick Verreos Does Puerto Rico: The Macy's Fashion Director Event in Plaza Las Americas Mall, San Juan Puerto Rico!!

Bienvenido a Puerto REEEEECOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Align CenterMiss Puerto Rico: Nick Verreos and his Macy's Puerto Rico Models, Plaza Las Americas

One week ago--to the day--I went to the Caribbean Island (and unofficial 51st US State) of Puerto Rico, to host one of my many Macy's Fashion Director Events. I was SOOOO EXCITED to be coming to Puerto Rico. Why? First of all, I am half Latino and speak fluent Spanish and grew up in Venezuela--which is like Puerto Rico but in South America.

Also: This was my second time in the island. Back in my UCLA/College days, I spent a very crazy Spring Break in Puerto Rico with my College roommates and friends where I had to call my parents back home to wire me money because I had none to pay for a hotel! But this time I was going for work and actually staying in a nice hotel...

The Sheraton Hotel and Casino near the Convention Center. No beach or poker-playin' time, unfortunately. Need I remind you, I am here for Fashion and for Work! I arrived the night before my event and was surprised to see what awaited me at the American Airlines Gate:

Yummy Yummy: Sancocho

There were two people--with a whole "Soup Kitchen"-like set up--serving what I think was SANCOCHO! Now, in case you are Latin-food deficient, Sancocho is a traditional soup consisting of vegetables and (usually) large pieces of meat, served in a broth. As I walked out of my LONG flight, the entire gate was filled with waiting passengers (for the next flight I presume?) with Styrofoam bowls of the stuff. I was like "What the H***???". Welcome to Puerto Rico!!! It's like the "lei" of Puerto Rico I guess!

AM Modeling: Nick Verreos flanked by his Univision "Tu Mañana" Morning Show Models

Very early the next morning--the day of my event--I was scheduled to do an interview--and mini-Fall Trend Fashion Show with models--with the local Univision Morning Show, "Tu Mañana". When I showed up, I really had no idea what to expect and if they even knew who I was. But all that changed the minute I met my new GIRLFRIEND:

Matchy-Matchy: Nick Verreos and Nuria Sebazco, on the set of Univision's Puerto Rico "Tu Mañana"

The gorgeous "Tu Mañana" anchor, Nuria Sebazco. She went LOCA: She was like "OMG, te quiero! I read your blog..loved your Barbie! I loved you on the show..." Well, that was IT for me! I wish I had her as my every day Wake Up Alarm Clock! The interview and mini fashion show went great and I had a lot of fun with everyone at Univision Puerto Rico.

But now, it was time to get ready for my Puerto Rico "Director de Moda Evento" (translation: Fashion Director Event) at Macy's Plaza Las Americas.

We had three great Challenges, where audience members styled our models for special occasions which I came up with, such as Dressing for Puerto Rico High Fashion Week and "What Would You Wear For an Interview?".

Hug It Out: Nick Verreos and and old friend of his family who resides in Puerto Rico, Dyneli, who came out for the event

Everyone had a lot of fun--especially me--and it was great to meet the fans of Project Runway in Puerto Rico. Hopefully I can return to this gorgeous island and possibly be invited to show my Nikolaki Collection like I showed in the Bahamas two years ago at Island of The World Fashion Week. I love me the Caribbean that's for sure!

One of the Pools at the Sheraton San Juan/Convention Center and the View of San Juan from the Pool Deck

Before leaving the following morning (I had a plane to catch to host another Macy's Fashion Director event, this time in Nashville Tennessee!), I had to at least get a photo of the Hotel's pool and some "Caribbean-esque" Palm Trees. Otherwise, people would have not believed that I was even there! Sorry no Beach-y photos, but I did get to see them from my airplane window when I left. Adios Puerto Rico, Te Amo! Now, I wonder where I can get some Sancocho in Los Angeles?????

Nick Verreos to host Macy's Fashion Director Event in PUERTO RICO this Thursday!!

OMG!!! I'm going to Puerto Rico!!!!!!

Yes, Chicos and Chicas, I am coming to San Juan Puerto Rico! Last week, I hosted the Macy's Fashion's Night Out event in Aventura near Miami (it was fabulous BTW, and I will have a recap of the entire event soon!). I returned to LA, worked on my upcoming NIKOLAKI Spring 2011 Collection for four days and now I am off to Puerto Rico! I will be hosting a Macy's Fashion Director Event and Fashion Show at the Macy's Plaza La Americas on Thursday September 16Th (This Thursday!!), starting at 6 PM. I'll also be doing various Morning Talk Shows in local Puerto Rican TV so watch out for me!

A View of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

I am SOOOO excited to be coming back to La Isla del Encanto (Island of Enchantment for the Gringos). The last time I was in Puerto Rico was back when I was at UCLA during Spring Break (long story!). I loved it then and I'm sure I'll love it now. Besides it's glorious beaches, fun people, and delicious cuisine, it's also known for...

Miss Universe 2006 Zuleika Rivera, from Puerto Rico

having some of the Most Beautiful Women in the World! Maybe one of those Miss Universes from Puerto Rico might show up (if they do I might have an Ataque Cardiaco, or Cardiac Arrest). See you in Puerto Rico!

Nick Verreos Rides in the Macy's Car for the SF 40Th Anniversary Pride Parade

Happy San Francisco Pride!!!SF Pride Macy's Banner

Yes, kiddies, it has come to this: I was FINALLY invited--by Macy's no less--to ride the official Macy's "float" at the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade. Not just any Pride Parade but THE 40Th Anniversary darlings. I just happened to be in San Francisco hosting the Sunglass Hut Grand Opening Event at Macy's Union Square and well, Macy's thought "Let's see if Nick will be our Macy's 'Grand Marshall' ?" Ummm, let me think about it...YES!!! Riding Proud: Nick Verreos atop the convertible BMW Macy's Car, SF Pride 2010

After I was done with my Sunglass Hut Event, I checked into my most comfortable Hotel Vitale room and settled in for the night (after a few cocktails with friends at the Americano, naturally!). Now, onto Sunday kiddies. Rainbow Peace: Nick Verreos strikes a pose, SF Pride 2010

I was so humbled, honored and well, very verklempt, to have been asked to be part of this amazing occasion. As I arrived in my "waiting area", all the Macy's volunteers congregated along with hundreds of other parade attendees who were a part of different organizations and/or floats that were about to take part if this 40Th Anniversary EXTRAVAGANZA. Macy's went "all out" with not one but TWO shiny brand new BMW's from BMW San Francisco. They also had hundreds of black Macy's Pride T-shirts as well as TONS of Macy's rainbow flag hankies (above) that were to be passed out during our parade route. During the wait, I got to enjoy the Gold's Gym Float (above) which waited right next to us the entire time with a group of the most perfectly toned, muscled and buffed bodies this side of the Mississippi (nice!). I was also very happy to see one my oldest and dearest of friends...interior designer Gino Castaño, who stopped by to keep me company (Love him!) (above photo). Finally, around 1PM, we got the word that we could "start" them BMW engines! Macy's Princess: Nick Verreos, atop the Macy's BMW SF Parade car, with Macy's volunteers

I threw on my white Zara jacket over my peach-colored American Apparel deep-V t-shirt, threw on a couple of those fabulous Macy's Pride Hankies, and I was ready! For about an hour, all I could see and hear was "Omg!Nick!!!" or "Oh wait It's Nick from Project Runway!". View From My Car: Market Street San Francisco from my car, SF Pride 2010

So much so that my Macy's client--and driver-- said "I really need to make a t-shirt that says 'OMG-It's Nick!' " It was so AMAZING to ride the 40Th Anniversary SF Pride Parade and get to see all the loving, peaceful, inclusive, and very COLORFUL people out for Sunday's festivities. I cannot say this enough: Riding the SF Pride Parade was one of the most SURREAL experiences of my life!
I'm Taking This To Europe: Nick Verreos eyes his new Bubblegum Pink Samsonite Suitcase

Once we finished the parade, the Macy's clients had a VERY SPECIAL Gift for me: A bright Pink Samsonite Suitcase! You see, last month when I was in San Francisco to host a "Sex And The City 2"-themed party at Macy's Union Square, I was "eyeing" this Barbie-pink suitcase that was in one of the "Sex And The City 2" event displays...well, the clients remembered and so as a "Thank You" for being the Macy's SF Pride "Grand Marshall", they gave it to me, it was waiting for me at the end of the parade! I know: Shut The Front Door! After the parade I had three hours before I would catch my flight back to LA. My SF friends from AGES ago, Jason Fioresi and Carlo Parenti (above), decided to throw me an impromptu "Congrats, Welcome and Happy Pride Sunday" afternoon gathering at their fabulous Bernal Heights pied-de-terre. Nick Buffet: The "SF Pride" Spread at Jason and Carlo's home

As I arrived, there was an entire table set up with White Wine from Spain, cheeses from all over the world, crackers and bread, Caprese Salad, salami, Prosciutto, Garbonzo beans, olives and Banana Peppers, as well as turkey meatballs. Not kidding! Just for me! Well, it was the perfect ending to an unbelievable weekend in San Francisco. I was ready to get back on the freeway and find my way back to SFO and board my return flight back to LA-LA Land. I HEART San Francisco! For More Photos: Click HERE!
