Suspension of Classes Update (11am, September 26, 2011): All afternoon classes in kindergarten to High School in NCR (Metro Manila) have been suspended, DepEd announced Monday:

"Based on @dost_pagasa latest weather advisory, all afternoon classes in NCR will be suspended starting 12nn (Kinder, Elementary & HS)." DepEd said via its official Twitter account.

As public storm warning signals were raised because of Tropical Storm "Pedring", the Department of Education (DepEd) has reiterated its guidelines on the suspension of classes Sunday night.

"For areas under signal no.1, automatic suspension in Kindergarten. Signal no.2, automatic suspension in Kindergarten, Elem & High School." DepeD tweeted.

Tertiary levels will be included in the suspension of classes when an area is under Signal Number 3.

According to the 11 a.m, September 26, 2011 severe weather bulletin issued by the state weather bureau, the following areas are under storm signals:

Signal Number 2 - Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay , Burias Island, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Quezon , Polillo Island, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Ifugao and Cagayan

Signal Number 1 -Metro Manila, Masbate, Ticao Island, Marinduque, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Bataan, Zambales, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Mt. Province, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Kalinga, Apayao, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands

According to the PAGASA, it is highly possible that Tropical Storm "Pedring" will intensify into a typhoon.

Update (1 a.m., September 26, 2011): Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that Gov. Joey Salceda has announced suspension of classes in kindergarten, elementary and high school levels on September 26, 2011 in his Albay due to TS "Pedring." He has also ordered evacuation of the flooded areas in Polangui, Oas, Libon and Malinao.
