When the bunch of us passed by Kampong Ayer (Water Village) in Brunei Darussalam I knew right away we had to stop by to snap a shot or two despite the seemingly never-ending rain. Such a rural village it was, it's almost epic. When I learned the residents refused a grand gift offer by the Sultan of Brunei to relocate to housing areas of better condition, I couldn't have been more in unison with their decision. I would take the same stand in a heartbeat, if asked. Character wins over comfort!
